Marie Claire and Bed Bugs

Posted by Jessica on December 15, 2008

What do they have in common?  Apparently, they share a home.

According to Gawker, the rumor in New York City is that the Marie Claire offices in the Hearst building there are infested with bed bugs:

Marie Claire magazine in the brand new hearst tower was infested by bed bugs…  Employees in the affected area were sent home on Friday.  Over the weekend, total fumigation of the floor.

Chicagoans, if bed bugs can infest the Marie Claire magazine offices, they certainly can and will infest your homes and your businesses.  Bed bugs only need one thing in order to survive: human blood.  And they are absolutely determined to find it.  So, it does not matter if your work address is 233 South Wacker or your home address is in the Gold Coast– you are increasingly likely to experience a bed bug infestation, simply because to them, you are food.

Wouldn’t it be comforting to know that our city had good policy in place for you to rely on if you ever had to deal with bed bugs?  We sure do think so.

Nobugsonme over at caught wind of this story earlier today and gave her perspective in this post.  Check it out.  It’s good.

    Hey there, Jessica!

Thanks for the shout out. You’re definitely right that everyone in Chicagoland is at risk of getting bed bugs.
